Love classic, epic fantasy? Wonder what happened to stories of rousing adventure with noble heroes and dastardly villains? Then join me every Friday for Brandon Wilborn’s Fantasy Fiction Podcast.
That’s right, I have officially launched a fantasy fiction podcast where I’ll be reading the unabridged audio version of my novels, starting with The Treasure of Capric.
It’s like an audiobook turned into a show
It’s a show for fans of classic, epic fantasy who still want stories of rousing adventure with heroes worth rooting for, and fiendish foes to fight, all seasoned with some spiritual inspiration.
Every week, you can hear 20-30 minutes of action-packed tales with classic heroes and devious villains that let you escape to wondrous worlds with noble quests, soul-piercing danger, and a thread of hope.
There’s More than Just Fantasy Fiction in this podcast
With the podcast, you’ll also get a few peeks “behind the keyboard” of an indie author. There will also be fantasy and sci-fi book recommendations, and the occasional devotional thought, giveaway, or other bonus content after the main story. You can even send me a message or voicemail if you have a question you’d like me to answer.
You can listen to the first episode right here.
What about regular audiobooks?
The audiobook version of The Treasure of Capric has been too long in coming. Several readers or potential readers have asked for it, but because of technical challenges and costs, I couldn’t make it work out previously.
With some new technology, those issues are history.
The podcast allows me to break up the recording and editing into manageable pieces, and share it with you for free. You can find it on your favorite podcast app at Podcast.BrandonWilborn.com/share
I’ve got that nervous-excitement-before-stepping-out-on-stage feeling!
But don’t worry if you aren’t keen to wait a week between episodes—once the recording and editing are complete, I’ll also publish the audio through the normal audiobook distributors.
I expect to have the primary recording and audio editing finished in June of ‘23.
New to Podcasts?
Here’s how you can subscribe to Brandon Wilborn’s Fantasy Fiction, so you get episodes automatically delivered, ready for streaming on your device.
Step 1: Find an app. There are several apps that will play podcasts on your phone. Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Podchaser, etc. Some of these are known for streaming music, so you might already have an app for the job.
One way to find out is to go to the list of apps on your phone and search for “podcast” in that list. It will show you which apps should work.
Step 2: Open your favorite podcast app.
Step 3: Find the magnifying glass or search button and type “Brandon Wilborn” into the search bar. Hopefully, you’ll see my name and podcast show in the results—something like this:
Step 4: Click on the show and you’ll see something like this:
Step 5: Find the button that says follow, subscribe, or something similar. Click that, and you’ll be subscribed.
New episodes will automatically show up on your list of shows and episodes.
Enjoy.
You can even tweak the settings to download them and listen without internet access. Some apps might also have a bell to turn on notifications for new episodes if you like.
Can’t find the show in the app?
Some of the directories haven’t catalogued me yet because it’s a new show.
In that case, the easy way to subscribe is to go to https://podcast.brandonwilborn.com/share on your phone and click your app’s icon to subscribe there. (You can do it from a computer, too)
The slightly-less-easy way is to copy and paste this link into your app’s search bar in step 3 – https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/2176657.rss
Eventually, those directories will get up to speed.
If you don’t have a smart phone, or you prefer to use a computer or other device without a podcast app, you can listen directly by clicking the podcast button in the top menu on this page, or find the video version of the podcast on YouTube.
Final Thoughts on the podcast for The Treasure of Capric
I’d recommend this book for audiences 14 and up, mainly for a PG-13 level of violence, including the enemies doing some bad things with magic, and for themes of sexual temptation.
The first two episodes are already live! Please check out the new podcast at https://podcast.brandonwilborn.com/
